Instapic is a fun theme styled after the popular Instagram, allowing you to mimic the features that Instagram offers (minus the photo filters), yet run the photo blog on your own. Instapic features Google Map support, as well as a ‘like’ counter to keep up with what your followers most enjoy.
How this theme operates:
The image displayed on a post, both on the index and single post views, are set using the Featured Image function of WordPress. Post contents display on the sidebar underneath ‘More About This Photo.’
The blurb in the sidebar on the homepage, as well as the archives page, is the tagline set under the General settings option in the Administration Panel. now set in the theme options panel.
The theme is coded to display the like counter and map location if the plugins are installed. If they are not, the theme will simply ignore their display.

Attributes > Template > TagsAdditional notes:
Medium images are cropped with the set dimensions above, but are cropped from the center. So please keep this in mind for any wide or tall photos. If you wish for the site title to appear in script like the demo, download and upload the Blackjack @font files to the fonts directory.
The Postie plugin works with Instapic. Just be sure to leave the image formatting from the Image tab empty, as Instapic automatically attaches the image to the post as the featured image.
How To Post:
While making a post, use the default WordPress media uploader to upload an image. After your image has uploaded, you can either click “Set as featured image,” or just close out the uploader and the theme will automatically feature the image. The contents you type inside the post box will appear in the right sidebar underneath “More about this photo.” Post contents can be left blank if you wish to not describe your image or leave any additional information for your visitors.
The location is set using the WP Geo box on the post screen.

Your theme does not work with WordPress 3.2.1
Hi Tobias – Could you be more specific? The demo is actually running WP 3.2.1.
Works good here… except that in the newest version, the background seems to have gone away for some reason… That said, I probably broke something…
Hi Geren – That’s my fault, I forgot to update the instructions regarding the background change
I appreciate the feedback!!
